We love bargain Christmas market breaks. And unbelievably, there are still some deals available – if you’re ready to travel in the next few days. Here are our favourites.
London -> Sarajevo
The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina tends to stick in the memory for all the wrong reasons. However, we found it to be an amazing, welcoming city full of history, tradition and interesting sights.
We highly recommend checking out the bobsled run, Old Town and 1982 Winter Olympics area. Being a winter resort, there may even be opportunities for some skiing. And yes, there is at least one Christmas market in town.

Where to stay in Sarajevo? Head for the Baščaršija part of town.
Liverpool -> Kraków
How to Poland’s largest Christmas market, Kraków is a great destination any time of year. And for Liverpudlians, it’s our choice of bargain Christmas breaks.

Pick a hotel in the old town (Stare Miasto) area to be near all the Christmas market action.
East Midlands -> Prague
A huge and well-regarded Christmas market in the City of Spires for less than a round of drinks in London. Prague is a beautiful and fascinating city year-round – but they go all out for Christmas.
Flights for less than £50? Yes please!
Despite having visited Prague several times, we’ve never made it to the Christmas market. But if we lived near the East Midlands airport, this would be a steal.
Choose a hotel in the old town for the full Christmas effect – we recommend the U Prince (or any of the Bauer Group properties) if they have rooms available.
Edinburgh -> Bratislava
Bratislava Christmas market is often overlooked in favour of its glitzier neighbour, Vienna. And that’s a real shame. We ranked it at Number 7 on our list.
Bratislava is a charming city with a great market. And at £52 return, this is a brilliant weekend away. Outside the Eurozone, Slovakia offers fantastic value for money too.
